NOTICE: PLEASE BE ADVISED UPON RELEASE OF YOUR ANIMAL TO THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER OR AFTER BEING HELD FOR FIVE (5) DAYS, THAT ANIMAL MAY BE SUBJECT TO EUTHANASIA.
Montgomery County Animal Shelter does not sell animals for medical research. The "no pound seizure" law came into effect July 1, 2003.
Dogs and puppies surrendered by owners can be adopted to new owners the same day. Dogs picked up running at large or strays with no ID are held 5 days, not counting day picked up. Dogs with collar or other Id are held 10 days, not counting day picked up.
All dogs and puppies 4 months and older need to have a Montgomery County dog tag, which needs to be purchased every year. The dog tag is your dogs way back home. If we get a dog wearing a tag we can trace it to the owner.
If your dog is missing please come by the shelter. The best way to determine if your dog is at the shelter is to come by and look for yourself, please don't rely on descriptions over the phone. You can call us and we will put your information on our lost and found book. If you find a dog please call us.
Shelter Animal Control hours are Monday through Friday, 12-1pm & 4-5pm
and Saturday 3-4pm
SPECIAL SUMMER HOURS!! FACC STAFFER IS ON SITE FROM 1 - 5 EVERY WEEKDAY!!
Volunteers of Friends (FACC) hold open pound hours on Saturdays from 12 - 4 pm. Come out and take a dog for a walk or help make introductions to new owners and their pets!
If you are interested in any of these dogs, please verify sex and status of the dog with the shelter. Adoption fees are $10.00 for all dogs and prepay spay/neuter of $65 for females and $60 for males is required. Please see our adoption procedures page describing the fees.

Jacob is a six month old lab/pit bull. He is energetic, playful, and very friendly. His tail never stops wagging. Jacob loves everyone, both human and canine, and is a very quick learner. He is not completely housebroken, but tries hard to wait until he is outside. He is currently learning basic commands like "sit" ,"off" and "out" and doing very well. He is good during baths, in his crate, and in the car. Jacob loves chewing rawhide and playing with other puppies outside. Neutered and up to date on all shots. Currently about 40 lbs, estimated mature weight around 60 lbs - about the size of a typical lab.

Bo is a special guy, senior and yet puppy-esque. He's had a horrible start and has not seen true care until now. Yet he remains friendly and is ready to be loved. Fully up to date on vaccinations and neutered, he'll make the perfect companion. Biscuit is a friendly and happy girl, spayed and UTD on vaccinations. She's housebroken, good with other dogs, and very submissive. She's on a diet now; she loves attention and wants to be a lapdog. Bailey is a sweet spayed female Beagle mix. She is UTD on shots and very friendly.

Sophie is a
shy pup who we've been working with on socializing. She is great with other dogs and gets along well with most cats. She has come along somewhat with people but still very shy. She is mostly crate trained, still working on house training. She'll need lots of work and patience but she's worth it!! Paco is a male Chihuahua, 2 years old and neutered. He's UTD on vaccinations and has been through quite a lot with a surgery to remedy his kidney stones. Even throughout all this, he's been a real trooper. It takes him a few minutes to warm up to new people but once he does he loves the attention.
